Today's Pet Pics

Gina
It was a cold, rainy day. I was driving when I saw a tiny, four week old kitten about 20 feet off of the road. I stopped & picked him up. I knew that were there is one, there is more. I searched the foot high, wet grass field until I found his siblings. They were cold, wet & very sick.
With the location of the litter and no houses around for miles, we figured that they were just another unwanted litter that needed to be disposed of.
After several vet visits and many weeks of around the clock care, they were all well enough to to be spayed/neutered and go to their forever homes. Gina, the sickest of the litter, remains with me until I find that purrrrrfect home for her. She lost 75% of her sight due to the neglect that she suffered.
PLEASE SPAY & NEUTER!!

Mya (border collie/treeing walker coonhound)
She may have come from a high-kill shelter, but this puppy sure loves life. Her mommy and daddy are pretty sure that she is smarter than they are–she was house trained in less than a day!–and they love to see her soak up all of the sights, sounds, and smells of her new home in New York City. Mya’s favorite activities include sleeping, running around like crazy (that’s the Border Collie in her), sniffing (that’s the Treeing Walker Coonhound), and, of course, chewing on anything and everything! Most of all, Mya loves meeting her many adoring fans as she walks. Whenever she sees a new person, she sits pretty and waits for them to shower her with the love and affection she knows she deserves.

Name:
Scary
Age:
Two years old
Gender:
Male
Kind:
Bearded Dragon
Home:
New South Wales, Australia
Hello there! This is Scary, my pet bearded dragon, he is almost two years old and loves to munch his crickets!
Scary is one very special pet, he was the smallest one in his family and bit of an escape artist. He thinks he is a vicious terrifying dragon towards crickets and meal worms that is. He loves to sit on your head or shoulders and loves being outside.
Scary does respond to his name he looks at you and goes, ‘yes?’ He is a silly lizard that likes to run around and he loves everyone. He’s not much of a game-playing pet. He loves to be tickled under his chin and likes being with people most of the time.
I hope you like him as much as I do!

Name:
Oliver
Age:
Five months old
Gender:
Male
Breed:
Miniature Pinscher, Terrier mix
Home:
San Antonio, Texas, USA
This is my Oliver! I have been an animal lover all of my life and have never been able to handle the responsibility of a dog. I frequently visit the Animal shelter of San Antonio to play with the dogs. Then one week I went in for a visit, and came out with a best friend. There was something about Oliver that I just knew he would be perfect for me.
Oliver enjoys long walks, crunching kibbles, and catching zzz’s. He recently had his first visit to the pet store and picked out all sorts of prizes, and of course I let him get them all. He likes to sleep on my lap and inside my dresser drawers. He hasn’t quite figured out how to bark yet, but when he does make little squeaks; they are the most adorable sounds. It’s only been a little bit of time since I got Oliver from the shelter but my life has forever been changed, for the better. I have never felt a love like this for any animal, a love that makes me wonder, “Who rescued who?”!

Name:
Dina
Age:
Unknown
Gender:
Female
Kind:
Dilute Tortoiseshell
Home:
Canada
This is Dina, I named her so because at the time for some reason I believed the cat in “Alice in Wonderland” was grey with patches for some reason? It is not, it’s a red cat haha oh well, the name Dina suits this cat well :). She was a stray but has now found a loving home with all of us. She came to our home about four years ago for the first time, and looked horrible! She would come and go all winter, we always let her in whenever she would show up and gave her much love because she seemed so beat up. She had patches of fur missing, seemed to have a swollen belly, and she would have cuts on her head. It took a whole season and a half but by the middle of spring she decided to stick around. She has lived here since and has healed so well. Her age is unknown but I’m going to guess around eight years old, maybe? She’s older, in any case.
At first my boyfriend thought she wouldn’t make it through the winter and now she seems to have quite a few more years in her, she seems younger than before! She is a beautiful, loving cat, who looooooves to get her head scratched. She doesn’t like her back to be scratched and I think it had something to do with her being beat up sooo much before, which is understandable, so we stick with the head. She and I have a connection, probably because I show her the most affection. She doesn’t meow, ever, the only time she does is when she sees me :). She runs up to me and meows once, just to let me know she’s there, ready to be loved :P. My boyfriend’s grandma still can’t get over how much the cat likes me because she never hears her meow. She is a great cat to take pictures of, she has beautiful peach colored patches spread throughout her fur and amazing yellow eyes. She is a survivor and a loving dear cat.

We received Loki from a co-worker. He was the only one that looked like a “him”, but when she gave him to us she said he was a “she”… so he started out as Lucy! He meows… silently. And his personality is amazing, cuddly and energetic.

Hi, I’m Ralph and I’m a nine week old black lab. I came to my new home two weeks ago and have loved it here ever since. All the neighborhood kids love to come over and play with me because I’m so cute. My older sister, Abby, a 12-year-old yellow Lab, is very tolerant of my playful behavior and I love her. My favorite thing to do is roll on my back while chewing on my stuffed dinosaur.

Name:
Oliver
Age:
Seven and a half months old
Gender:
Male
Kind:
Orange Satin Rabbit
Home:
Middlesex, England
Hello, my pet’s name is Oliver and he is seven and a half months old. He is an Orange Satin Rabbit and together we live in Middlesex, England. Oliver is special because I have unconditional love for him, and him for me. He has off days where he thumps and nips. But always makes it up to me by being extremely cuddly and cute. Oliver has one ear that stays up and one that flops. He is the first rabbit I have even seen do that. He constantly makes me squeal and coo because he is so adorable. He even does (what we call) “super jumps” when he is running round the garden. Where his two back legs flip out to the side. He truly is the best bunny and I love him to bits.

Name:
Molly
Age:
Ten weeks old
Gender:
Female
Breed:
Beagle, Feist
Home:
Elkhorn, Wisconsin, USA
Molly is just the sweetest puppy ever. We adopted her just recently from a rescue center in Mississippi. She came from a litter of five. Mama was a beagle and daddy was a feist, which is a small hunting dog similar to a rat terrier. She is very social and loves lots of attention. We currently have an eleven-year-old Sheltie named Sandi. This is a big adjustment for all of us. Sandi is not too keen right now on this little ankle biter. She’s been alone for over eight years. We felt she needed a companion and what better way than to bring in a new buddy. Molly loves playing with her toys, your shoes, and whatever she can get in her mouth. Nothing seems to phase her. She loves to run and is very fast.
She likes to play with her toys, loves the outdoors and loves to lick your face. She will be going to a puppy training class in a couple weeks. I believe this may be more than our Sheltie bargained for. She wants to play, but our older dog is kind of set in her ways and does not want to be messed with. Hopefully this will change. We love our little beagle. She’s a real joy in our life. Nothing like bringing is happiness to the whole family. She is a true blessing.

Name:
Raphael
Age:
Five months old
Gender:
Male
Kind:
Cat
Home:
Missouri, USA
When Raphael was just a tiny kitten he was always the first of the litter to greet me. I would sit down and he was instantly in my lap purring. I came to see him everyday and soon realize he was the one I wanted to keep. He used to crawl in my lap and I would sing to him, making him fall asleep. I usually spent my summer days hanging out with this boy. I would spend hours playing and snuggling with him every day. And I decided to name him Raphael, because it’s the name of my favorite Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle.
Once he got older he started to avoid me. He became very independent, and would actually run away from me every time I went to him. I was really upset that he didn’t seem to like me anymore. But, a few weeks ago he has finally started to grow out of his independent kitten stage. Now he comes running to see me every time I come looking for him. And he’s finally back to purring nonstop when I pet him. I can’t stop smiling when I’m with him because he’s just so sweet. I love him so much already!

This is Tippy.
I recently lost my beloved cat of 15 years, Cleo. I was so heartbroken! I adopted a kitten from the local shelter and tragically it died of distemper one week later! When reading the newspaper I saw an ad from a lady who was fostering kittens and had to give it another try. That is how I got Tippy, named for the black color tip to tip (nose and tail). I think his black nose makes him adorable and comical looking.

This is Dancer (golden retriever)
Dancer loves giving puppy kisses and playing tug of war with anything, including her puppy mommy’s hair. She thinks everyone is her new best friend and her goal in life is to get a belly rub from every person she meets.

Name:
Sidney
Age:
Two and a half years old
Gender:
Male
Kind:
Chinchilla
Home:
Sweden
I got Sid last Christmas when his old family no longer has the time to care for him. He is my third chin, the first two hate being scratched so it was great to find out that there is nothing Sid loves more than a good rub behind the ears! Sid is very vocal, when he sees me visiting with the other chins he starts to buzz and beep and make all kinds of noises, jumping around the cage until he gets attention. When he is out playing he can even sound like he is laughing, especially when I am trying to convince him to return to his cage! He is very outgoing, when we first got him he used to get upset if we touched his tail or back but now he is fine with it and as soon as I open his cage door he tries to literally leap into my arms!
Sid is living alone at the moment, we did attempt to introduce him to my other two chins but it didn’t go well so now I am waiting for the perfect baby chin to come along to hopefully be his cagemate. Until then, he will continue to enjoy lots of extra love and attention from me.

Name:
Cherri
Age:
Five years old
Gender:
Female
Breed
Affenpinscher
Home:
Canada
This is Cherri! A little bit of history on Cherri (pronounced ‘cherry’ like the fruit): She was given to me when she was three when her very loving-family could no longer care for her. She has become the apple of my eye and is part of my little family. I love her and always will. She was named before I got her, and came with a plethora of her personal belongings, including a bed, six months worth of dog food, toys, treats, leashes, a Pedi-paw, and coats/jackets. She was extremely loved in her previous family and is equally loved now that she is apart of my family.
It took me almost a week to convince Cherri that she was allowed up on the furniture and in my bed to come sleep with me because she wasn’t allowed on the furniture in her old home, but now–she never leaves my side. She follows me around my home, and covers my photography clients in kisses and adoration whenever we do in-home shoots (after barking her little head off to warn me that people are here, of course).
Cherri’s birthday is February the 13th and as of this year, she is now five. When I first got her, my friends affectionately nicknamed her ‘rat dog’ simply because she was so tiny and I had given her an atrocious hair cut that made her look even smaller and showed her long tail off. I was immediately proud to have her as apart of my family and shortly after her nicknames became “cherie” (French) and “Cher-bear”, along with “fuzz-face” and “monkey”. She’s an Affenpinscher breed, and was well-known in Europe as a ratter and is known as the ‘monkey-face’ breed. According to our local (and not-so-local) PetSmart, the affenpinscher is extremely rare in Canada as well as the States. I’m proud to have her as a member of my family and wanted to share this little piece of my family with you.
She loves to roll around on the carpet in the living room, then pounce on her mom to give her a shock. She loves long walks, playing “Ready, Set, Go!” or “Un, deux, trois!” Where she waits until you say ‘GO!’ and then runs around like a total spazz before coming back for the next round. She likes to play tag, and loves long naps under the blankets with her mom. (I always let her curl up under the covers with me, no matter what!) She is the first dog I’ve ever had the pleasure of welcoming into my family and is spoiled absolutely rotten! She’s well-trained and quickly learned the ‘snap program’, where I don’t even have to say a thing. I can snap my fingers and she’ll come, or I can snap my fingers and point and she’ll go where she’s told. She loves Dentastix, the blow-dryer and sticking her head out the window when we drive, but loathes baths and even hates going out for walks when it’s raining. 🙂
She loves posing for her photographer mom, and has a great personality that shows in her photos! She’s an amazing dog,
From a super-proud mom,
Remy D.

Name:
Angel
Age:
One year old
Gender:
Female
Kind:
Cat
Home:
Nicosia, Cyprus
Angel is one of my four cats. Our vet told us they were Persian, however probably it’s a mix (Persian and something else. Angel is one of the best cats we have ever had. The kittens’ mother abandoned them when they were young and we took on the responsibility to raise them. She is friendly with everyone and it doesn’t take too much for her to purr, she enjoys every and any attention. She takes care of her two sisters and brother by cleaning them where they can’t and hangs out with all cats. In her own innocent and playful way she keeps our home clean from any pests. Sometimes she gets us worried when she’s out in the neighborhood but we are glad to see her come back every time!

Cheeto and Bo are two brothers in a litter of five who were found at the beach. I’m fostering them until they find their ‘forever homes.’ At first they were quiet and shy, but, now that they’ve gotten comfortable, their true personalities are shining through. Here they are sleeping on my windowsill at work, after a long, hard day of doing laps on my desk. If they’re awake, they’re a blur, if they’re sleeping, it’s snuggled on me or next to each other. I’ll be sad to see them go!

Hercules is obedient and well-behaved, much like an older puppy. He was the only white puppy in a litter of black Labrador retrievers. He recently graduated the star of his puppy class, learning most commands well before the other dogs, and he even knows how to high five by means of greeting. He loves to play in the water–in our desert home this is mainly his kiddie pool, but he has learned to turn on the garden hose by himself to cool off. However, he abhors baths. He is a playful puppy, happily greeting all other dogs without fear, and he adores my parents’ twelve-year-old lab. He has learned to play fetch in the backyard and loves walks around our neighborhood. He is currently about forty pounds of chubby puppy and thinks he’s a lap dog. Hercules is my first four-legged child, but he has been a great learning experience. My parents are excited to have a grand-puppy and my best friends have gladly accepted him as their god child. He even sits in my lap (for now) while I Skype with my best friend in Italy.

Name:
Punky
Age:
Two months old
Gender:
Male
Kind:
Guinea Pig
Home:
Budapest, Hungary
I am introducing my little piggie, Punky. He looks like a big hamster (his nickname is Giant Hamster). I got him for my birthday. He came from a pet shop, and he lived in a little terrarium with one bunny and three other guinea pigs. I loved him at first sight. Four years ago I had three other piggies (only males), but Punky is very different than them. They were not very tame, but Punky is! When I take him to his “night room,” and go to the the sitting-room, he comes to in front of the cage bars, after climbing the bars, and begs for attention (and of course food). But most guinea pigs do this.
Why Punky is special? Because he isn’t very afraid the loud noises, and he came with me to our weekend house and Margaret Island. He likes when someone is petting his fur. When I whistle a little, he comes, because I taught him if he hear this sound, he gets delicious food. I don’t know why, but guinea pigs are crazy for the cucumber, and Punky is too. Punky loves playing with his toys, but he doesn’t like bathing. I hope that one day he will be a therapy piggie, because he is housebroken, and doesn’t pee the human who is holding him! He has some fans among my friends. He is intelligent – when I play him his own sounds (I sometimes record his voice) he never responds to his own sound! He is a very special guinea pig, and I hope he will be healthy and fun like now for a long time!

Name:
Logan
Age:
Two and a half years old
Gender:
Male
Breed:
Shetland Sheepdog
Home:
Melbourne, Victoria, Australia
This is Logan, sometimes Logie for short! Every time I take Logan for a walk, and a person walks past, they come over and say, “Awe!!! It’s a Lassie Dog!!!” or “Awe!!! It’s like a Collie but a mini!!!” but I correct them and tell them he is a Shetland Sheepdog or Sheltie for short.
Logan is a special boy! He can do lots of tricks like shake, turn around, go around and lots more! He is a lovable dog and he understands whatever you’re feeling, and makes it his own mood. He loves everyone, but mostly his mother, he goes to her for food and loves her the most, and then there’s me, I get second person love. He was very mischievous as a puppy, chewing on almost everything he could find, including my fingers, ouch! He does try to herd some of my little cousins, too! He is my first dog ever and he is the best one ever! I love my dog Logan!

Name:
Kiltie
Age:
Ten years old
Gender:
Female
Kind:
Sphynx
Home:
Scotland, UK
Kiltie is just a loving wee soul. She loves attention, is very affectionate and cuddles up to you at every given opportunity. She is one of my four cats; I also have three Siamese. I had read up on the Sphynx and really fell in love with the breed, so decided to source a breeder and buy a kitten. Just after I got her, I found myself going through a divorce and lost my mum and because I had my cats this pulled me through, because they needed me.
She is more of a lap cat, not really into games anymore. She loves people, and uses her paws like wee hands to be able to make her needs known and loves to be carried around. Anyone who has a Sphynx will tell you they are no ordinary cat. They like to be in your personal space and that’s just the way I like it. She is a wonderful cat.
